Homemade Traditional Deep-Fried Donuts

4 1/2 cups of flour
4 tbs baking powder
1 tbs grated nutmeg
1/2 tbs salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 eggs
2 cups of sugar
2 tbs unsalted butter (melted)
1 cup of milk
1 tbs vanilla extract

Prepare a place to drain the donuts (either newspapers or a brown paper bag topped with paper towels).

Flour a bread board for kneading donuts.

Heat oil in deep fryer to 375 degrees F.

Start by mixing the 4-1/2 cups of flour, 4 tbs baking powder, 1 tbs of nutmeg, 1/2 tbs salt and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon together.

Then, mix the 2 eggs and the 2 cups of sugar until light and fluffy. Once the eggs and sugar mix turn white, add the 1 cup of milk, 2 tbs melted butter and 1 tbs vanilla extract while continuing to beat.

Then add the dry ingredients to the liquid mixture and knead with floured hands to form a soft dough. Pat down to 1/4 inch thickness.

Dip doughnut cutter in flour and cut the donuts. As an alternative, use a large jar such as a pickle jar to cut the donut, and then use a water bottle to cut the hole.

When you are sure that the oil is at the correct temperature, deep-fry the donuts for 30 seconds on each side, so they come out soft inside and golden brown on the outside. Allow for the donuts to drip a bit before placing them on a paper towel which will absorb excess oil.

When you knead the dough again to prepare your next batch, add the holes you set aside earlier and mix them into the rest of the dough (or fry them separately to make donut holes).
