| In 1990 I was placed on a
committee to create an annual Kentucky EMS state conference, and have
served on the conference committee every year since its
inception.
Also in 1990 I returned to Louisville
EMS as a paramedic. Louisville was in the process of merging
their EMS with their fire department. While I was very proud of
the accomplishments that Frankfort had made, I still was very
attached to Louisville and, since I now had experience with
a fire-based EMS system, wanted to be a part of the merger
process.
Unfortunately I didn't survive the merger
process and in 1995 became a flight paramedic with Jewish Hospital's
SKYCARE. As a flight paramedic, there were
so many new things to learn and do which gave me the opportunity
to really advance as a paramedic.
In 1996, when the Internet was just becoming
popular, I started the Kentucky EMS Connection
Internet site with the goal of improving communication and the exchange
of information and ideas within the state EMS community.
In 1998 SKYCARE merged with two other flight
programs and became STATCARE. With the merger I was placed into
both a flight and an education position.
I also purchased my first professional camera,
a Hasselblad medium format, which I had wanted since the
60s.
